Why J.P. Morgan’s Commercial Banking is doubling down on specialized industries in EMEA to support its growing global business
Since expanding to serve locally-headquartered, midsize companies outside of the U.S. and Canada nearly four years ago, the Corporate Client Banking team within J.P. Morgan Commercial Banking has laid a strong foundation. With that, the team continues to grow in additional markets and offer new specialized banking capabilities abroad, and most recently, a dedicated Innovation Economy banking team.
Understanding the Innovation Economy
The?Innovation Economy?is?where entrepreneurship, innovation and technology come together to fuel economic growth and competitiveness, disrupting industries and improving our living standards. Generally, this is comprised of the tech, life sciences and disruptive commerce sectors—and the high growth, highly disruptive companies within them that are changing the way we all live, work and play.
“After laying the foundation for our Corporate Client Banking business across EMEA over the last few years, we’re excited to formally establish a team focused on the Innovation Economy sector,” said Andrew Kresse, Head of Corporate Client Banking International.?“We know what the startups and their founders in these markets need and know it’s the right time to double down on supporting these innovative and exciting companies across EMEA.”

To drive the Innovation Economy strategy locally across EMEA, the team is organizing itself geographically to cover priority markets to start.
J.P. Morgan will also announce an Innovation Economy banking lead for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
“This framework in EMEA is a natural extension of the dedicated ecosystem that our fantastic counterparts are building in North America on the Technology and Disruptive Commerce, Life Sciences and Venture Capital coverage teams in Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries’ Innovation Economy business and we’re excited to see what more we can do here,” Kresse said.?
