CFPB Approves Final Rule on Automated Valuation Models
The federal banking agencies have proposed (and the CFPB has given their stamp of approval to) a new rule on "automated valuation models" (think: using AI and algorithms in lending decisions). The rule will require institutions to dig deep and "put safeguards in place to ensure a high level of confidence in the home value estimates, protect against the manipulation of data, avoid conflicts of interest, and comply with applicable nondiscrimination laws." The rule will go into effect around one year after each agency gives the final rule their thumbs up.?Read more
