The Difference Between Ambassadors And Influencers

Some articles and blog posts use the terms “ambassador” and “influencer” interchangeably, but it is important to understand the key differences between influencer and ambassador definitions.

An influencer can be described as a person that has a large social media following, typically more than 10,000 social media followers. Influencers often work with brands and businesses for one-off sponsorships. For example, think of a celebrity who does a sponsored Instagram reel about a food product.?While the post itself can make money, if the post never went up, the celebrity would still be an influencer regardless.?

Now an ambassador consistently works with a brand over a certain time period. The best way to expand your network is to start with you, here are some suggested items to update on your LinkedIn Profile.?Please don’t feel you need to give your full location as far as country and zip code.?You can keep it generalized.?For example, if you live in Gaithersburg, MD.?You can put down Washington D.C.-Baltimore area as your location.

  • A headline?
  • A profile photo and background picture?
  • A LinkedIn summary
  • Current job title?
  • Your country and zip code
  • Work experience with relevant dates
  • Education Section
  • Any volunteer work or other hobbies?
  • At least 5 relevant skills


2. Step #2-Add up to 3 Hashtags on your profile

You can switch creator mode on using the Dashboard on your profile. When you’re looking at your own profile within your own account, you are automatically logged in. So navigate down your profile and you will see a box saying “Resources”. The item at the top of the list says ‘Creator Mode’ with a toggle to switch it on.??

Once you have set creator mode to “On”.?Click on the text Creator Mode and follow the below step-by-step process to add hashtags.?You can do up to 5, but you should have at least three as a recommendation.?

  1. Identify keywords you most want to be associated with, what best aligns you and your career or career growth.
  2. Type your first keyword into the ‘Search’ box in the top left putting a # before the word.?For example, #cityfirstbank. ?Feel free to create a list of ones you prefer to have on your profile.??
  3. Once you choose up to three, click Save and you are done!

3. Step #3-Share City First Bank Posts

Your network may know what you do and who you are, but they may not know who your employer is.?The best way to do is that by sharing content of City First Bank on your profile.?But when you do be sure to include “City First Bank” in your posts.?As you share, simply type in your post before sharing “@City First Bank” and the company will pop right up.?
