Bank of America extends lease for large Addison office

美国银行 . has decided to extend its lease for 10 more years at Hallmark Center I, off the Dallas North Tollway in Addison.
The lease, signed in July but only recently publicized, encompasses the entire center, roughly 553,799 square feet, at 16001 N. Dallas Pkwy. Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bank of America is the sole occupant of the building. In 2013, it struck a sale-leaseback deal with what is now The RMR Group .

Centurion American to develop 2,200-home community south of Sherman
A North Texas developer is planning a 667-acre residential community that will bring 2,200 new homes to a small town along the booming U.S. Route 75 corridor.
Farmers Branch-based Centurion American Development Group expects to break ground on the community in Van Alstyne early next year and the first lots should be available for homebuilders by June 2026, the company announced Aug. 16.
The location is near the Collin-Grayson County line, bordered by Collin McKinney Parkway, County Road 222 and Mantua Parkway.

Japanese retailer UNIQLO sets opening timeline for first DFW store
Uniqlo is coming to the Galleria Dallas this fall.
Known for its comfortable and utilitarian clothing style, the company plans to open its first flagship store in Dallas-Fort Worth at the Galleria in October.
The store is slated to take up two floors inside the North Dallas mall, spanning around 20,000 square feet.

Southwest Airlines CEO calls proxy fight 'battle for the heart of our company'
As Southwest Airlines Co. prepares for a proxy showdown with an activist investor, the Dallas-based company's top leader has told employees it will be a "battle for the heart of our company."
Elliott Investment Management L.P. , a New York-based hedge fund, last week announced it would nominate new directors to replace two-thirds of the Southwest board. Elliott has been pushing for changes since disclosing a large stake in the airline earlier this summer, calling attention to Southwest's sagging share price and complaining about a "decades-old approach."

Chuy's Restaurants to leave iconic McKinney Avenue location
Tex-Mex restaurant Chuy's will shutter its McKinney Avenue location — a longtime occupant of more than 30 years — and move to Greenville Avenue in East Dallas.
The Dallas Morning News reported that the chain will make its move in April 2025, opening at the former site of Desert Racer at 1520 Greenville Ave. The McKinney Avenue spot will remain open until then.
