BANG BANG! 2 Winners-go see Dark Garden at Ports of Anacortes!
When I get denied, which is most of the time….it makes me stronger and fighting back more…when I get accepted…it’s a triumphant feeling that the fight is worth the work! EITHER WAY I WIN!
Been quiet for a while then BANG-BANG! 2 of my paintings won to be shown at the Arts at the Port of Anacortes during their huge festival. One sold so "Dark Gardens" will be featured there. After the festival (if not sold) it will be going to the new Hilton Garden Hotel in Bellevue, WA as a gift to West77. So amazing – I do love this style of painting and will be sticking more to this direction and striving to get better with each one, so this just motivates me more. These paintings were inspired by building projects done by West77 Developers and Amy May Architecture and Design who I have been honored to work with! It's how I view their work both in construction and finished, creating a very different way of looking at our building community and what they strive to get across. It's all good!
Juror Michael Monroe has quite a track record so I feel honored to be one of the 70 artists out of 222 that entered! About the Juror: Michael Monroe, Seattle, has been involved with the contemporary American studio craft movement for over 50 years. In addition to his current status as Director Emeritus of the Bellevue Art Museum, Monroe served as Executive Director of the American Craft Council, a 30,000 member national organization. For twenty-one years he was associated with the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery, serving as Curator and Curator-in-Charge. In 1993, Monroe was invited by President and Mrs Clinton to curate a collection of contemporary American craft for the White House to commemorate The Year of American Craft. He also worked on several related assignments for Presidents Carter and Bush.
Here they are – the winners!!!
