Bane of Online Classes
Online classes effect!
A little boy was doing maths homework, ...
saying to himself...
2+5, the son of bitch is 7
3+6, the son of bitch is 9
His mother heard this & asked, ... What are you doing? ??
Boy: Doing my maths homework ??
Mom: Is this how your teacher taught you? ??
Boy: Yes ??
Infuriated mother ??called the teacher:
Are you teaching maths to children by saying... 2+2, the son of bitch is 4? ??
The teacher started laughing & answered:
What I taught them was... 2+2 THE SUM OF WHICH is 4
Maybe the audio problem......"??????
Moral: PHONETICS is important ... ????
English (Languages) must be mastered before Maths or any subject for that matter.??
Now, please allow me to react/respond to the above episode.
First, it is better to suspend schools and colleges for 6 months and even a year (in the current pandemic situation). Parents must act courageously now than ever before. Nothing is going to change dramatically. Instead, children should learn cooking, cleaning, gardening and other life's skills.
Second, I am loudly thinking. The world will be a better place, that is up to 10th Grade, i.e. up to the age of 15/16 years, if we teach only
(A) Languages (at least three, five would be great; I'm personally good at four) and
(B) Maths, that is Basic Operations Only (not algebra, calculus etc)
After 10th Grade, he or she can pursue the subject that he/she wants including medicine, engineering, law, accountancy, music, art or any subject for that matter. Since the person would have mastered at least three languages and some basic operational mathematics, one can self-learn (of course, Universities or Research Institutions should only be guiding platforms and/or facilities, and they will be better utilised than the current way of imposed education mechanism which is nothing but chasing grades!) any subject of their choice and be good at them, in fact, he/she will be a master of it because of total dedication, energy and creativity that will go in on the strong foundation of the languages mastered already and also it is his/her choice.
For me basic Maths ends at Numbers, Basic Operations (+ * - / ) and Geometry. Anything beyond is just NOT required. From my experience, I am sharing. I have done Chartered Accountancy and MBA ( and I was taught some algebra and calculus etc. I never used them in my life at all).
Finally, I believe 17th Century and earlier children were taught 3 Rs only ( i.e. Reading, WRiting, and ARithmetics). Gradually things changed in the name of uniform basic education (maybe a fresh form to create bonded labourers to support the Industrial Revolution). We have landed here, where the majority end up in Corporates as bonded labourers and the mastery of languages decimated along with it self-learning, creativity, energy and purposes of life are also killed/lost!
It is time to re-think! It is time re-create our lives and our purposes. It starts with the mastery of languages and going back to basics.
Thanks for reading. Like, share or comment freely what do you think about this article. It does not matter if you agree or disagree with my views. What matters most is that we are becoming more of slaves than masters of our own lives! It is time to stop the trend and re-create a better future for one and all.

4 年We are probably moving towards online platforms that engage participants through physical activity, like nintendo V remotes or the latest AR gadgets. A new breed of online classroom apps and games/sports aided by AR and sensor Gadgets...sounds tech heavy, Industry majors certainly moving in that direction, hope the kids get the advantage of such

4 年I think different children have different abilities. I loved the science & math part. And loathed languages, even Hindi my 2nd language. One size does not fit all. I hope and pray for a world where we all learn English as the bridge language. Sure if your a politician, sales person, many languages makes sense ... even for the average Joe more is dedinately better .. if they have an aptitude for it. Else anything for marks / just to get thru school becomes negative. And math and science helps in every day life - if your job needs it. Few intances in software I have used statistics, gemometry (game dev) that I learned in 10th and 12th! So again one size does not fit all. For the present distance ed - I do hope we can have smaller groups of children studying together for 2-3 hours, like someone's flat with 5-6 students at a time. Keeping 3 feet apart might not be possible but atleast will be limited numbers.
