Bandage OK but what after Covid19
COVID 19 social and economic relief packages were “created to aid in the prevention and relief of human suffering generally†is the same work as done by the Red Cross in time of war.
These packages are important and needed as Covid19 revealed the deep structural inadequacies in the South Africa Society that existed pre COVID19.
The packages of relief aid will not solve our social and economic problems. These solution require structural changes - a new way of doing things.
Whether in small business development or any other aspect of social and economic life, I have not yet seen proposals, policies, practices processes or regulation than can be defined as structural change that will makes society more resilient and capable to meet future pandemic in society.
All we have seen, thus far, are bandages, to bind the wounds of the pandemic “ like aid to victims in time of warâ€.
#SASMEF has made proposals:
? Build a Public Private Partnership to deliver a National Small Business Support System.
? To be funded from the ESD currently paid by corporations.
#SASMEF calls for comment on the above proposals.

The Red Cross movement began with the founding of the International Committee for the Relief of the Wounded (now the International Committee of the Red Cross) in 1863. It was established to care for victims of battle in time of war, but later national Red Cross societies were created to aid in the prevention and relief of human suffering generallyâ€.
