Banana Dance Party in Fog City
If you were in downtown San Francisco last Tuesday, you might have seen me dancing around the sidewalk in a banana suit. I was hanging out at a busy intersection with Nicole and Fabian (long-time FruitGuys employees) and we were handing out 500 free bananas to morning pedestrians.?
Banana on a Mission
To be honest, I had a lot of other tasks I could have been doing that morning, so I felt a little guilty about spending time in the banana suit. But passing out bananas turned out to be the absolute best start to my day. Within a few minutes, I didn’t even care if the people hurrying by took a banana from me or not. I just wanted to make them smile.?
You might think making people smile is easy when you’re dancing around dressed up as a giant banana. But the truth is that most people walking to work or school have earbuds in or headphones on, so it’s hard to get their attention. Luckily, the yellow banana suit got them to look up most of the time! It was so much fun to make those commuters smile, and even more fun when they took a banana, said hi, told a banana joke, or even asked to take a picture with me.?
At The FruitGuys, we sell fresh fruit and snacks, but we also try to make the workday more fun and bring people together. Being the real-life Chief Banana and smiling with strangers definitely made my day better and I hope it brought joy to the people around me, too.??

Have Suit, Will Travel
Now, I’m tempted to jump back into the suit as soon as I can to hand out more smiles and healthy snacks. Where do you think The FruitGuys should send our banana people next? Let me know, and I’ll see if we can get a banana there. I might even bring my tap shoes.
