I have a five-year-old son. The light of my life. And, right now, I’m growing my practice. I have new clients to prospect and existing clients to service. I regularly connect with other veteran businesspeople. And I do a podcast twice a week.
My business takes up a lot of my time.?
But I make time for my son.?
For instance, I have him with me Wednesday afternoons through Thursday mornings. I tell all my clients, if you call or email me Wednesday afternoons, you may not get a response until late Thursday or Friday.?
I am totally honest with them. I don’t want them to think I’m ignoring them. It’s just when I’m with my family, I focus my attention on my family. I may take him to visit a train museum (not sure why, but lately I have really been getting into trains. So’s my son).?
Or we may camp overnight in a state park.?

No One Has Ever Said on Their Deathbed, “I Wish I spent More Time in the Office”
Many of the veteran business people I deal with, either as clients or in veteran networks, have the same problem-managing work life and family time.?
Some are more successful than others. Some have the mindset, “I’ll have to put in the time in the office now so we can have a comfortable life later.”
For me, I have probably lost thousands of dollars in revenue over the years because of the time I devoted solely to my family. But, I’ll have lifetime memories of being with my son. Memories no one will take from me.?
I’ll take that trade anytime.?
