Balancing Knowledge & Talent

Learning is a continuous process. In a corporate world, every individual must have a uniqueness that makes them standout from the crowd. There will be a hundred things that everybody can do but there should be that one thing which only you can do.
Often people get confused between knowledge and talent. Knowledge is your ability to perform a task whereas talent is how you use your knowledge. In simple words, performing an activity is a combination of ‘WHAT’ and ‘HOW’. ‘WHAT’ part of the activity is gained through knowledge whereas the ‘HOW’ part of the activity comes through your talent.
Your knowledge gives you confidence and talent gets you recognition.
One should maintain a fine balance of knowledge and talent to grow in an organization. The difference between a normal restaurant’s sandwich and a sandwich from a 5-star hotel is the way it is presented. Both have pretty much the same ingredients so, there is no lack of knowledge in how to make a sandwich. It’s the talent of how to present that makes all the difference.
Work on that one thing that makes you standout from the rest of your peers. It can be your talent for simplifying complex problems, handling escalations, leading a team, preparing meaty presentations, being a good communicator, or anything else. That one quality of yours that gives you an advantage over others is your ‘TALENT’. Keep that alive, always.
