Balancing Impact and Independence: Melanie's Journey at Comsysto
To start us off: Do you have a fun fact about you to share?
I can always tell you exactly how many days are left until Christmas. It’s a funny little thing that keeps the holiday spirit alive all year round!
And on a more serious note, tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Comsysto?
I studied Business Informatics and IT Management, but my career path quickly shifted after I realized SAP Administration wasn’t for me. I found my passion in the agile world and joined the company as a Scrum Master in 2022.
In my role, I work closely with my team in their day-to-day work, supporting them as they tackle challenges and achieve their goals. Alongside this, I facilitate workshops and trainings on topics like stress management, self-management and feedback. Moreover, I also offer 1:1 coaching sessions to help my colleagues grow personally and professionally.
What is the biggest challenge in your role? And how do you deal with it??
One of the biggest challenges is being recognized and respected in my role, especially since I don’t have a technical background. I work hard to ensure I’m not just seen as the “team assistance" but as someone who drives meaningful change, improves project processes, and fosters team development.
To tackle this, I focus on building personal connections through 1:1 conversations—it’s all about understanding each person individually and creating trust. I also remind myself to stay patient; sometimes an idea just needs more time, and it’s worth coming back to it later. And finally, I involve the team as much as possible, gathering their ideas and supporting them in turning those ideas into reality.

And opposite: what was the biggest highlight so far?
One of my biggest highlights was hosting my first conference workshop. I had the chance to learn so much at Comsysto and gain valuable experiences, which gave me the confidence to take the leap and submit my own proposal—and it got accepted! It was an incredible experience, and I’m excited to explore more opportunities like that in the future.
You are also independent as a female empowerment coach next to your work at Comsysto. How do you handle the context switches and in general, the split between being independent and employed at the same time? Any tips and tricks?
The key for me is maintaining a clear separation—I make sure to keep my time for coaching and my time for my role at Comsysto completely distinct to ensure that each area gets my full attention when I’m working on it.
So my biggest tip is to stay disciplined with your schedule and set clear boundaries. This allows you to fully focus on one thing at a time and avoid distractions, which is essential when juggling multiple responsibilities.
How does having your own business on the side help you with the work at Comsysto? And vice versa? Is there any overlap?
There’s definitely a methodological overlap. I bring a lot of the skills I use as a coach—like active listening, asking powerful questions, and guiding self-reflection—into my work here to support colleagues.
At the same time, being active in the tech world keeps me closely connected to the challenges my coachees face. This helps me avoid becoming too “coaching-blind” and stay grounded in the realities of the industry, which ultimately benefits my work in both contexts.
Lastly, any advice for people who want to join Comsysto?
Just do it! There are so many amazing people here who inspire me, support me, and encourage me to grow. If you’re looking for a place where you can develop yourself and truly make an impact, this is the place to be.
