Juggling between teaching your child their homework and meeting client deadlines can be a daunting task for any parent. Here’s how I manage to balance both effectively.
Every evening, after wrapping up my workday, I switch gears to become a teacher for my six-year-old son, Viyean. His curious mind, especially his love for space and astronauts, requires engaging ways to make learning fun and informative. While he's tackling math problems or reading a story, I sit beside him with my laptop, working on content for my clients.
The key to managing both is organization. I schedule my most demanding tasks during school hours. This leaves me with lighter work in the evenings when Viyean needs my attention. Interactive learning tools, such as educational apps, come in handy, keeping him engaged while I squeeze in some writing.
Our study sessions are punctuated with short breaks, allowing us both to recharge. During these breaks, I brainstorm ideas for my next article or refine drafts. This rhythm ensures that I stay productive while being present for my son’s educational needs.
Balancing work and parenting isn’t easy, but with a structured approach and a bit of creativity, it's possible to succeed at both. Through these shared learning experiences, we both grow and learn, making each day a rewarding journey.
