Balancing Fun and Work
In our digital age - A leader understands the importance of a healthy and productive environment which requires individuals to be able to spend time in areas that relax their mind. Being occasionally away from work both mentally and physically rejuvenates people and therefore creates greater successes at work.
I personally believe that work-life balance is relative and does not follow a ‘one size fit all’ concept. Every individual is different and the way they look at life goes much beyond the traditional 8 to 6 clock. So, the onus lies largely on the individual to find the right way to do it while at work the leaders are the facilitators.
Here are however some pointers, which I believe could help in having a healthier work-life equation.
- Follow your passions – be it time with family, a hobby or a jog around the park
- Plan time out with friends and family as you would plan work meetings
- Plan your day and let people you work with, know of your plan
- While at work - Go prepared in meetings and request others to do so as well
Work Life Balance is critical not only to a person’s well-being but also a necessity for a progressive and innovation driven work culture.
The sooner this realization sets in, the better it is for corporates and individuals alike!
