Bala recognised as a Finalist at UDIA NSW & Coronation Awards for Excellence 2023

SPG is thrilled to have been recognised by industry peers as a finalist in the UDIA NSW & Coronation Awards for Excellence 2023 Medium Density Category for Bala, Neutral Bay. The awards gala dinner afforded the team the opportunity to celebrate the hard work that went into delivering the development.

"The nomination as a finalist celebrates the team effort to deliver Bala and recognises its design features which it’s become renowned for in the Neutral Bay community", says Cameron Johnson, General Manager at SPG.

Completed in August 2022, Bala comprises 19 luxury apartments over four residential levels. Its contemporary art deco style with deep curved cantilevering balconies are a stunning addition to the Neutral Bay landscape.

“We recognised the need to cater to the post-COVID needs of the community and provide spacious 2 and 3-bedroom apartments with private gardens and balconies filled with lush established greenery. The integrated range of Bala community-centric programs such as community gardens, BBQ areas, Zen garden, and meditation spaces not only promoted connectivity and wellbeing, it addressed the hangover of isolation” says Tony Leung, Director at A+ Design.

"We’re proud to have delivered a development that had community at the forefront of our thinking. Elements such as the central open fire stair, the lobby void space and the north facing zen garden were all thoughtful design elements aimed at creating a sense of place and engagement amongst building occupants. Bala’s organic shape is a strong architectural statement and is different to anything else in the marketplace. Having spoken with the residents and the local community, we know the that the building has generated a sense of architectural interest with people. Its prominent location at the northern entrance to Neutral Bay village does provide that eye catching moment for all passing by. The building really is a fantastic inclusion to Neutral Bay's urban village lifestyle,” added Cameron Johnson, General Manager at SPG.

The Gala Dinner showcased a wide array of terrific developments that were completed across the industry over the past 12 months. SPG congratulates all of the award winners and thanks UDIA NSW and the judging panel for the recognition.
