During India’s 2019 elections, Amnesty India wanted to highlight equality, justice and liberty with Abki Baar, Manav Adhikaar. Sumit Kumar helped ideate and create an illustrative guide called A-Z of Indian Election with our then intern Bhaskar Shivakumar.

TROLL PATROL INDIA 2019

Amnesty India launched #TrollPatrolIndia in May 2019 to engage digital volunteers to report abusive tweets aimed at women politicians during the elections. We created a series of illustrations for them which were widely used and reused throughout the duration of the campaign.

Amnesty India later released a report on this form of online abuse. We created its cover page and illustrations using real tweets to highlight how vulgar online trolling can get. Sumit Kumar thanks American cartoonist Chris Ware for inspiring this work.

TROLL PATROL- A GLOBAL CAMPAIGN

Amnesty International ran a global campaign for Troll Patrol, and Bakarmax had the opportunity to create illustrations for the Troll Patrol UK campaign. This campaign underlined the inefficiency and inaction of twitter against the trolls and their abuse.
