Bahubali-battle in Market

Today’s market is a battle field. The principle of a battle field is very simple “Kill or get killed”. When Reliance Jio came with attractive offers, all other telecom companies are on the losing track. Due to the announcement of cheapest smart phone from Reliance Jio almost at zero cost, all smart phone manufacturers are already under tremendous pressure.

There are three major roles in any battle. King, Generals and Soldiers. King is supposed to decide whether to attack or defend. Any wrong decision would result in getting killed. Similarly, Generals have to come up with strategies to implement King’s decision and Soldiers to execute the orders. All the three King, Generals and Soldiers need to be Competent and work in unison, otherwise they would get killed. Even if they are performing one level less than what they are supposed to do, result would be the same.

In any company, there are three major roles like that of battle field. Like MD (King), Heads of the Departments (Generals) and Frontline executives (Soldiers). MD is supposed to show the direction for the company through vision and mission. Heads are to create and implement right strategies to achieve company’s business goals and Frontline, to execute those strategies. All the three need to be competent and work in unison. MD may be Harvard / IIT / IIM educated but if he / she does not have competent Heads and Frontline staff, the company can’t grow. Very often owner run businesses fall into this trap.

Business system helps in designing and implementing various business processes that would facilitate MD to set right direction for the company. Heads to ensure right strategies are implemented and Frontline to ensure that all routine works are carried out to achieve desired results.

Unfortunately, most of the organisations as they don’t have good business system, struggle and in the long run, there is a danger to be wiped out from the market. When there is no strong business system, very often the biggest battle is fought within the company between various functions just like in Bahubali.
