Bad thoughts playing on your mind?

- Is your life not treading the path you deserve?
- Stuck in a rut with no end in sight?
- Does life seem to pass you by?
You, like many, will be glad to see the back of 2020 with the threat of a second wave of Covid-19, mass hysteria by many sections of the media and playing the 'waiting game' of when life will return to a degree of normality.
This may help you.
You'll have heard many times of the expression 'Thoughts become things' and I am sure you'll have experienced something, possibly recently in your life, where you've said to yourself... 'I was just thinking that' or perhaps you think of your best friend, text them... and they are texting you at the same time?
Many put this down to coincidence, or fate, or luck, or whatever you choose to call it. We are constantly told, often in the face of adversity, to 'think positive' and to 'believe in yourself'... though as you know... not ALL beliefs are true (only to the people believing them)! It is also true to state that beliefs can and do change, as you receive more data, facts and other 'evidence' that questions your original belief.
If you were bitten by a dog at a very early age you would perhaps have the belief that all dogs bite. When you next encountered a dog, your nervousness and hesitation could make that dog feel threatened too which may cause it to bite you... thus embedding the belief that all dogs bite! Come into contact with an average, friendly dog and that experience will cause you to question your original belief, if you gave it the opportunity to?
Many of your belief systems originate from when you were very young, your parents, siblings, teachers etc. will all have had an impact on your belief systems. It follows that if you have seen the whole family scream and run away with flailing arms from a wasp, you too will adopt a belief that WASPS ARE EVIL! ?? It can also be said that the smallest, often most throwaway comment or situation can form beliefs that people choose to live with for a lifetime. (Yes, I said 'choose' because beliefs can be changed; some take the decision not to). Participating in a sports day at school, where regardless of the outcome, you can hear the parents and supporters cheering you on, applauding you and saying 'fantastic, well done' etc. can have a lasting effect on your life when it comes to participation. If you stumble and fall, just once, and you hear that crowd laughing and ridiculing you, making you feel embarrassed and humiliated, then that could be the perfect excuse for you to NEVER participate again, with the belief of 'I'm no good at that'. Seriously, these comments, whatever the intention can and DO have a lasting impact on many.
By learning to focus on the positive of any situation and challenging or questioning the negative thoughts that you have then this can change your own belief systems. Many people have the belief (no pun intended) that they cannot change their belief, so there is no point bothering! They give up too soon, as many people do when they face a new challenge. How many smokers have wanted to give up, yet after three or four days of quitting, despite being told that they will feel healthier and have better looking skin, they see no change and give up trying to quit and continue smoking. How many times have you started that diet (always a Monday of course) and after seemingly starving yourself for three or four days and seeing no physical change when you look in the mirror have given up! Rome wasn't built in a day and perhaps we have been programmed to demand 'immediate results'? You want the fastest internet connection, you order on Amazon to get goods delivered the next day, but you want the product or service now!
Not everything happens immediately and if you really want to change belief systems and achieve more goals that you set yourself then you have to nurture and dedicate time and focus. If you plant an apple seed because you like apples and you'd like your very own supply you'd not expect to wake up tomorrow morning with a 4 metre tree in your garden bearing fruit... or would you?
I use this analogy on many training courses and it demonstrates why, especially now, you would benefit from focussing on what you want, not want you don't.
Imagine you have a spacious garden. At one end you have the most beautiful flowers growing, with the most glorious blooms of every colour and you breathe in the wonderful fragrance as you close your eyes and feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. Just think about that for a moment.
At the opposite end of the garden, there are huge weeds, sharp thorns and monstrous brambles, totally overgrown and looking menacing. As you walk into your garden they draw your eye and you say to yourself, ‘I should clear them’ but if you are honest, you don’t know where to start. Every day you walk out to your garden, look at the weeds, thorns and brambles and promise yourself, one day you’ll get around to clearing them. This continues for a few days, weeks and months, your focus is on the things that you are going to get around to, but never do, until one day you glance at the other end of the garden to find that without nurturing, feeding and watering and focus, the flowers have wilted and died.
Think about your family, life and career and where your focus lies right now.
So what happens next? Well that's where I come in!
I enjoy receiving feedback from people, perhaps like you, that have attended courses and workshops and it is evident that many people just 'don't know where to start' when it comes to adjusting mindsets and beliefs.
Here's just some of the feedback I've received:
"I worked with Gary for over 17 years. Innovation Management and Development (UK) Ltd has always been a first choice when it comes to training and team building. Gary has a very unique approach to training and has incredible motivational skills and energy together with a knowledge of many industries. Feedback from his courses has always been 100%. "Gary is always a shining light. Whether leading courses, offering advice or friendly chat Gary, has the invigorating personality to get you engaged in whatever the subject matter is. Truly inspiring and very motivating. Talk to Gary Boyes and realise you have what it takes to take on your goals and be the best you can be".
"I highly recommend working with Gary, he is an inspirationalperson. With Gary’s help I was able to widen my businessopportunities and fulfill my ambitions. I will forever be grateful for all your continuous support".
“Gary taught my first ever course about 3 days into my career, several other inspiring meetings and 3 years to add to it, I’m still meeting targets and reaching my goals. His practical, methodical and yet inspiring ways of words and wisdom, make him not just a trainer to all, but also a friend to many. A memorable talker and still to this day a reason, many of us climb the ladder with a spring in our steps.”
I'm very aware that everyone has a choice and if you are achieving everything that you desire, I wish you the very best and keep treading that path. But if you're not achieving all that you deserve, if you're stuck in a rut, realising that life is just passing you by and you honestly want to change your current situation, well what have you got to lose?
Throughout lockdown I have been creating new workshops. Anyone that has worked with me before, knows that I am just a little bit obsessed by the workings of the mind! The workshops are designed to enable you to effect immediate change and to reap the benefits of of the gift of thought that you have been given and to harness that amazing mindset into a useful resource. (Unless you're someone that just can't think for themselves... although that's just a belief too)!
Please pick up the phone or email me as I would love to speak with you in person about attending an upcoming workshop. Possibly you know someone that would benefit from attending a workshop and of course it is always great to run in-house workshops for you and your employees. Pick up the phone or drop me an email, what could be simpler?
