Bad Sugar: A Resolution for Change

STORY: So my Girlfriend and I are testing a new meal plan last weekend, and it dawns on us; we're trying to help people take control of their own food habits, and meanwhile, our pantry is full of junk that we would Never include on a meal plan...
We're completely against food waste, but yesterday, on New Years Eve, we did a thing... A drastic thing that will change our health forever.
We made a promise to each other to stop consuming bad sugar completely this year. (Sorry babe, I'm making it public!)
At first, we take everything out of the pantry, fridge, and freezer that contains even the smallest amount of added sweeteners. Now, we could see it all in one place, like some Marie Kondo magic, and it was not sparking any joy at all. It was more like disgust...
We start dividing it up into piles to give to people, like my brother, who might still want it. I'm talking Christmas chocolates, pasta, instant noodles, hot chocolate packs, white sugar, and even the little candies that we get after a meal at Fusion Sushi. Everything.
Then, suddenly, my Girlfriend said, "What the hell are we doing?! If we're getting rid of all this stuff because we know it's toxic, how can we possibly give it to the people we love??!"
So, we threw away EVERYTHING. Any unopened packages went to the Calgary Food Bank, because some people just need something to eat in general, and anything we couldn't donate was tossed.
Our kitchen garbage bin was full of spaghetti noodles, oat O's, premium plus crackers, strawberry jam, peanut butter cup ice cream, and an open jar of tomato sauce.
This might seem like a tough decision, but it was actually really easy.
Not easy because we enjoy getting rid of tasty things, but because we know that we have each other's back more than ever, and that we're going to be healthy and happy together longer.??
Sugar is truly addictive, and we don't need it to enjoy the little things in life.
