Bad Seeds Which Should've Never Been Planted
I was happy to see we only received a relatively light dusting of snow over the night, but oh baby, there were some very slick spots on the pavements and sidewalks. Thank goodness I was noticing them because they were about as close to being what's been referred to as 'black ice', which can be deadly for drivers and pedestrians.
I did receive yesterday's signed offer back in my email overnight, so I went ahead and called the buyer to say I now have everything needed, along with later in the day having the abstract of title delivered to my office this afternoon, so it looks like I may have a quick closing coming up this month. There's definitely some up-side potential with that home, and especially if the buyer's able to make all those improvements without having to call upon contractors to make them, because that's when upgrades become pricey.
My mid-morning appointment to show a home that recently came on the market, ended up being a waste of time for both my buyers and myself, and mostly because of the number of upgrades it's needing, and especially its exterior siding which is in very bad condition, and since it's that old pressed-board siding, there's no fixing that crap which was the rage back in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Believe it or not, I think they still sell that junk. Considering the amount of work it's in need of, and the price they had on it, my buyers gave it a big "No". We all agreed a person could throw a good $100K at it and still not have it up to par. The craziest of all, was the listing agent sending me a text message saying they already had an offer on it. Oh well, somebody's got some cash they want to burn. At least I had a good visit with that charming young couple who always seem to be able to lift my spirits.
Upon return from that showing, I headed out to take some photos in our surrounding countryside, and in spite of that herd of goats not being out, or possibly having been shipped off to another farm, I'd say there's a number of good shots I'll be sharing with you. For some reason, I really like tonight's photo, and only because it has a creepy-cool look which was for me, very thought provoking. I was definitely off the beaten path today to where I'm thinking I was on some gravel roads I'd never traveled until today. What made me a bit sad over the above photo, was the fact that more sooner than later, that historic barn is going to be imploding, just like the many hundreds of others we have around Iowa.
When I returned to office, I placed a call to a colleague, just to find out what's been happening on her side of the fence. There wasn't much worth sharing which had taken place since we last spoke, and for some reason, the subject was changed, and we began talking about how the characters of older people really don't change, which is why it's best we not even bother with giving counsel. She brought up some people she's known for a number of years, and agreed that in spite of them saying they've changed for the better, their core characters are still there. I had to laugh when saying, "There's ten or more people I've known my entire life, and even though they walk the walk and talk the talk, there've been demons haunting them their entire lives." I went on to say their range in ages are from mid-60's, and on into their 80's, and all of them act the same way they did when they were far younger. Several love to pot-stir, one I swear is a raging bi-polar, one of them has a tendency to steal if it can be gotten away with, several other are self-made victims, and then we have the terribly jealous and conspiracy theorists.
The funniest thing about such people, is the way in which they've learned to mask their dark characters until they've pulled people into their lives, just to use and abuse. So what I insisted on today with my colleague, and she did fully agree, is the fact that when people get to be a certain age, there's no way you can change them. Yes, they may settle down a little, but unfortunately it's all still there, and all because of the morphic resonance they were genetically cursed and/or blessed with. Like my grandmother used to say, "You can't change the stripes on a tiger." You may be able to whitewash those stripes, but they're still there. Make sense?
If you really want to rid yourself of such relationships, just dig your heels in and confront them as the people they are, because you can bet the farm, they'll not want to have anything more to do you with you. I've personally been down that road enough times this past decade to know it does work, and later became all the better person for it.
Oh, and don't ever allow them to weaken you whenever they're on their faux pitty-pots, because it's all part of the games they play.
When again mentioning morphic resonance, I've been paying closer attention to the offspring of those I've personally known for a number of years, and unfortunately many of their children show similar character flaws. Pretty scary isn't it? I'd even go so far to say a few of them are bad seeds which should've never been planted.
Yes, the two of us had a good round of chewing the fat over the character flaws in people we know, so I'm sure she'll have a great deal to think about over the weekend. I definitely turned a few mental lights on for her, which I believe ended up being all good.
With an hour or so to kill, I headed over to First Congregational Church to get some additional organ practicing done before tomorrow morning arrived. I do have to play for St. Paul Lutheran's Services tomorrow morning, but after it's over, I have to go over to First Congregational Church and wait for their Services to finish, just so I can get their small choir together and practice that jazzy new 'The Strife Is O'er" which I'm now pretty much up to speed with. Truth be told, it's growing on me to where I'm hearing it in being played in my mind.
