" Bad Habits "
"People often develop bad habits, and while they may want to quit, it's often challenging to do so. They might attempt various methods, but success remains elusive.
I'd like to share my personal story about overcoming a bad habit—alcohol consumption.
I started drinking beer in college, and it continued into my professional life. Owning a business meant attending clubs and social events where alcohol was expected. For courtesy, I found myself consuming more than just beer.
Although I wanted to quit for health reasons, my attempts were unsuccessful. Something kept pushing me to continue. After all, our behavior changes after consuming alcohol, affecting our personal credibility.
Friends suggested trying expensive alcohol, costing between 5000 to 7000 INR per bottle, claiming it was better for health. I experimented with this approach, but the desire to quit persisted. I wasn't a regular drinker but consumed alcohol on a monthly basis, depending on the situation.
Drinking expensive alcohol gave a false sense of pride and health benefits, but deep down, I knew alcohol is alcohol, regardless of its cost.
Despite trying various methods to quit, I couldn't succeed. Then, a few months ago, I came across social media posts about Mr. Narendra Modi Ji.
He refrains from drinking in any situation, citing its detrimental effects. The great leader refuses to compromise on his values for any reason. As individuals and entrepreneurs, we often engage in such habits for business and friendship, but true friendship is built on character, not just alcohol.
Inspired by Mr. Narendra Modi Ji, I decided to quit alcohol and aspire to be a better leader. I announced my decision on my 37th birthday (22.09.2023), sharing it with colleagues and friends.
For non-alcohol consumers, this may not seem significant, but overcoming an addiction is no easy feat. I share this story to encourage others facing similar struggles. If you want to break a bad habit, look to exemplary leaders for inspiration.
The benefits of quitting:
Approximately 50K to 1 lakh per annum saved, redirected towards supporting students' education.
Improved health.
Enhanced family happiness.
Avoidance of unwanted incidents.
If you're struggling, take a cue from great leaders and make a positive change in your life."
