Bad Government Ripping Nigeria Apart By Okundaye Israel O.

So many Nigerians have been booted out of their homes and country as a result of the unrepentant Buharis’ unresponsive governmental policies. Many are dead and vast majority have opted for greener pasture in neighboring African cities while others are far away across the ocean. The government and its  allies local or foreign are all serpent of doom that have will to sting and torment Nigerians in an attempt to rob us all of our happiness as an entity which we have always feast  and thrive on as a country in unison. He may have succeeded in achieving this mission but the reward of the misdeed will befall and hunt his generation now and after. 

About three years now, the federal government was busy chasing looters of Nigeria’s treasury with plenty of cases tried on the headlines of newspapers and media houses, freezing accounts of people in opposition and that of the dogged Nigerian activist or individuals who made critical attempts to expose his poor political social infertilitythat has continually dragged down the county’s economic fame/glory to rubble, sand and dust.  The government through its various arms or agencies took to social media and other sources to make declarations as to the huge amounts of money recovered in dollars from the previous government within a given period.  The rhetoric or embattled corruption war engaged by the government at the end of the day is faulted on different pot presented by situations and controversy surrounding the activities of government.

At first the government made stern attempt to have a clamp down on social media that he benefitted from before and during the 2014 election that brought him to authority. Though the government did not succeed but several attempts were made to bring down the house he once lived. 

None of the pronounced corrupt politicians from the previous government has been tried in any Nigeria court of law or jailed. The account and assets of some of the politicians fingered that were earlier frozen and seized were ordered by the court unfrozen and returned.   The government has continued to keep some high profile politician behind bar without court jurisdiction even when Ecowas rebuked the decision. There are several corrupt ministers and holders of political offices in the current government but none has been brought to book as they are usually shielded and hidden under the raider of Mr. President.  A minister under the government used millions of dollars to cut grass in IDP camp some time back, some bundles of starched hard currency in millions were discovered in one Ikoyi apartment connected with Amechi which a committee was set up by Buharis’ government headed by the then acting President Osinbanjo, after investigating the issues of Ikoyi billions, the chairman of the committee handed over the files or findings to President Buhari. The case had since met its death and swept under the carpet.

 The house of assembly at one time summoned and requested the acting EFCC chairman to account for the amount of money recovered from the over rated corruption struggle, he was unable to speak because he had no clue. The whole city and members of the national house of assembly were bamboozled. In recent times, the acting chairman released information on the amount of money recovered so far, it was put at over 500 billion us dollars. The government had long distant itself from the chairman’s claims. A statement credited to Buhari claimed that the government is yet to recover stolen loots.

The government through its military head had earlier fed the public with the defeat of Bokoharam terrorist gang that have been tormenting the northern parts of the country, the defeat on newspaper and social media have always been retaliated with counter attack on soft locations in the north. The amazing parts of these whole saga is the newest Dapchi boarding girls kidnap carried out in Yobe state where there are huge military presence. In the same manner the girls were returned and one of them who refused giving up her Christian faith is still missing.What bites the finger is how the terrorist came into town with heavy truck and artillery. Picked the girls and have them returned unnoticed by the defense sector whose responsibility is to protect the state from external pressure still remains a story unclad. 

It was painful that the president approved the appointment of some dead persons in his ministry. What a dead person can bring to the societal table, Is the question that many Nigerians would ask another day.A longer period of about three months was ruined to see President buharis’ ministers and cabinets come to power which over 80% are zoned to the north and mostly Muslims. It is so because the effects of the appointments have not had a direct impact on growth and development economically.

There is always the setting to distract the public from disturbing government misdeed to purported generated deed by hitting the headlines with political blame game on the past government. The next game changer is the release of looters of Nigeria treasury, just six political individuals all from the previous government, whereas, over 50% of the key players in the current dispensation are all important members of the past government. Some of these individuals played a huge role in what gave birth to the current administration by providing resources meant for the state to finance 2014 election that saw Apc come to power 2015.

The parts boiling in the country now are the facts that projects initiated and completed by the previous government are now being re commissioned, the ones near completion completed by the current government. I do not know how a government that has in its archive, the projects of the past governments, now cannot reaffirm the consciousness of the people they lead or is it that when new government comes to power, the citizens are expected to forget the score card of the previous era.

Before the advent of the current administration Nigeria’s economy was flourishing in every angle with breed of few challenges. The economy was booming with foreign investments all over. The boom had connected with high fly Gdp and its Gnp a blessing on hand. In that era we had issues with just single digit inflation. Exchange rate was rotating around one naira to (150 – 200) dollars. The relative prices of articles were at fair rates. At some point, the price of fuel was reduced to 90 naira a litre. There was room for opposition to breathe and air their voicethrough the various social platforms and other means of communication. Today the country has disintegrated into economic chaos; Apc government debt incurred is about 11 trillion dollars in 3 years as against the previous government debt stats of about 6 trillion in 16 years.  Inflation rate has doubled over the years and resulted in chronic economic hardship in the lives of the people of Nigeria.   

Before the 2014 election, stakeholders were clamoring for presidential debate between aspirants of each political party to have a feel of the ideology or political economic plans of the aspirants when they eventually get to power. The major presidential aspirants were available only Buhari wasn’t.  Presidential debate is a common ground to evaluate a thinking government and brilliant plans or method it is going to adopt to push up or drive the growth wheel of any economy. It is not strange that the captain of the Nigerian ship has not been able to live up to expectation, chat the coarse he was given the responsibility to lead and bring succor or happiness to the faces of the public neither did it have any blueprints for the way forward before and when it got to power. Instead the government has continually blame opposition for its incompetency in virtually all the sector of the economy. For example after 3 years, the current administration cannot evident a single project initiated and commissioned. Instead, the president has been busy travelling from one country to another which its essence had not had any positive impact on the country’s Gdp or Gnp.  

Sometime ago, Mr. President had called for the state of health of the late President Yaradua and demanded that his health information should be made available at the purview of the public, he moved for the impeachment of the then Nigerian President March 10, 2010. These statement credited to President Buhari has come to hunt him in Nigeria politics today. He is not bold enough or has the integrity to salute the courage he once craved of others. 

The skin of the snake scaled now is the call for Bokoharam amnesty, it is as if investment in Bokoharam is about to yield returns for its investors in government. The bullets are flying all over that the government has not been able to man the challenges of the country nor being able to manage its resources. 

The government is consumed in revenge and has neither yielded to criticism nor willing to make adjustments in its left handed governmental policies. Great minds like Bin Gate had made an attempt to recommend policies that will instigate good handling of economic activities that brings about improved political economic gains yet the government is unrepentant of its unorthodox method of running the economy.

 At this juctureBad Government Ripping Nigeria Aparts it will not be absurd to state that the country is uncultured and its political corporate nature had been unclothed because the country as a child is under an unhealthy parental guardian.
