BAD APPLE: The story of the reason the apples all rot in the barrel

Leaders need to be ready to deal with the upside of building the team as well as the "I" integrating the teams together for a strong bond and culture.

The hint here or the secret is , no matter what anyone tells you, the reason many people or individuals fail as leaders, most humans hate confrontation. This is most individuals worst nightmare, dealing with the face to face confrontations that will need to occur if you will build the top tier talent. Why am I saying this? Because I want YOU to succeed as a leader, not a manager, but a leader.

So this brings us to the BAD APPLE story. The story goes in a very visual manner, in the olden days when the apple orchards were in full swing and people "picked" the apples from the trees, what you had to pay huge attention to was to never ever throw an apple that was bad, had a blemish on it where you could see it was starting to "rot". Why? Because the owner, the "leader" knew that if you did that as the apples sat in the barrel, that one single little apple would rot more and every apple that was touching it, guess what, those apples all rotted as well. This is perhaps the biggest lesson I can share with you as we see companies expand, grow and thrive, teams all pulling in one direction, the APPLES are all healthy and working together. If there is one rotten apple in the bunch, everyday that apple works to try to rot the others.

As a leader you must see this, you must sooner than later deal with this. The longer that rotten apple sits in the barrel the higher the risk for damage to others, so lesson learned, you never throw a bad apple away too fast. As hard as it is, to have the strongest team you need to recognize and act on those bad apples.

Great people, or shiny apples that are healthy and glowing, want to do well and want to succeed without the emotional drain or damage from a bad apple, so you actually will improve morale and the team will be happier when that bad apple is gone. Till next week, have a great week and again please share my newsletters and add followers. My desire is to help others, thank you
