A Backwards Culture
If you are focused on making money while neglecting your psychological development, then you’re in the game and your authenticity is waiting for you in the stands. Think of your authenticity not as cultural assumptions like integrity, but you are reaching and reflecting back on your continued potential. For you to be authentic, you must get out of the game and into the stands and remember, all the team players work for an owner. Before moving toward our goals, both existential and pragmatic and utilizing forward moving momentum, we must understand authenticity. Authenticity then needs to be defined to refine our clarity around its utility and then redefine the word as the closeness toward which we can be and continue to become. We must be aware and open to unlearning what is we have come to know that has equipped our being and what we are to this point in our lives. Regardless of what we are, who are we? And who are we through what we do? If we are focused on the external like money and reactive to our world then we are inauthentic. We are then unaware of our deficit or pain; what we have been through in our lives that has hurt us and we overcompensate by wanting to win in the game of life. We are fighting to be in the game and compete because we are not collaborating with ourselves or our potential. To be authentic we must step back, readjust, refocus and realign who it is we are, what it is we can choose and how it is we want to operate day by day and moment by moment. Authenticity is not integrity; it is potential, and it is infinite but not if we are liars to ourselves. Authenticity is integral to our being; to be the owner of our life. We must stop fighting, reacting and winning for winning’s sake and let go. We then will see who we are, and growth will occur. This is the beginning to forward momentum, forward development and fulfillment. There is no more lying to ourselves or others when we get out of the game of life, and then we can finally win. Why? Because we are in the stand and we can finally watch ourselves clearly. Authentic is now a reality and not the irony in our life and now we are creating meaning.
