Backchannel...From Pigeons to Tweets??...
Watch this space for details about the inaugural podcast and webcast on 06.06.19, the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of Normandy, France.
Lt. Gen. Clarence "Mac" McKnight, retired, U.S. Army, former head of Signal Corps worldwide with 33,000 troops under his command, will take the "backchannel" to present his candid thoughts about how life on Earth has changed since he took his commission as a 2nd Lt., U.S. Army stationed in Korea in 1952.
Born on September 9, 1929 in Memphis, TN, Gen. McKnight has served his family, country, and God for almost 90 years.
Gen. McKnight is a 1952 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a B.S., Civil Engineering.
He earned a M.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1961.
Gen. McKnight married the love of his life, Barbara, on June 6, 1944 (D-Day). 06.06.19 will be the 75th anniversary of their marriage. They have two daughters, Lynn and Marcia, plus grandchildren and great grandchildren, who are the loves of his life, too.
After retiring from the Army, Gen. McKnight served as a partner with Booz, Allen & Hamilton. He was director of C3I Plans and Programs.
He's also served as a member of numerous boards and commissions, including chairing the Board of Directors for the national Community Learning and Information Network (CLIN) since 1993. In addition, the Boards for the National Trust for the Wounded Warriors, Institute for Cultural Diplomacy
LTG McKnight is the author of From Pigeons to Tweets, 2013.
As the book's Amazon page states: "The author led the U.S. Army into the modern age of computer warfare developing portals through which avenues of digitalization eventually flowed to civilian use. A graduate of West Point, he rose to the rank of Commanding General of the U.S. Army's Signal Corps developing technology used by all the military services. This is his story beginning as a lieutenant in the Korean War when he used radio communication with pigeon backup to Operation Desert Storm when computer warfare was used for the first time."
Sit back, listen and enjoy his candid and thoughtful view back, look at the present, and glance at the future of our nation, world, technology, and communications.
Time permitting, LTG McKnight will respond real-time to questions with his unique Tennessean style. He'll also answer written questions before and after the event.
And, be prepared for him singing an occasional version of "Mack the Knife" with his deep sultry voice.
In addition, Mac will share his candid thoughts about his love of family, country, and God.
By the way, the podcast and webcast will probably be rated PG-13 for salty language.
Tune in for the live conversation or listen/watch an archived version at your convenience anytime.
If all goes well, "Backchannel...From Pigeons to Tweets" will become a regular conversation.
Stay tuned!
