Back To Work & making it Work!

Back To Work & making it Work!

With the festivities and partying over, getting back to work and to the world of routine is not something to look forward to. Festivals, fun events and holidays transport us out of our mundane work-days to fun times. There is also the build up to it in terms of the looking forward to it and the excitement that slowly builds up. ?When that is all over it is tough to ??get back to work and the normal routine.? If you are one of those struggling to get back to work, here are 4 things you can do to cope with old routines and keep yourself motivated . . .

?

?

1.???? ?Reasoning Chat/Self Talk: Tell yourself that the celebration time or fun time is over for now and one needs to get back to work to support the fun times and the celebrations. Also tell yourself that it is only a matter of time before fun times or festivities will come knocking again. Convince yourself that work is needed to fund the free and fun times. It is said that all work and no play make Jack a dull boy but it is also true that all play and no work makes Jack penniless.

?

2.???? Make Plans: Plan out your next vacation, celebration or a fun event and calendar the date. Take baby-steps towards it in terms of organising the finance, finding the venue of choice, travel plans or people to invite if it is an event, and you can plan the event activities also. You could even focus on the next weekend and plan what you are going to do those two days instead of binge watching or being glued to social media. The idea is to have something to look forward to.

?

3.???? Take on a weekday project: You might laugh at this suggestion as you may be stretched on the time front but wait, take a look at all that you do and prioritise what you really need to do. Prioritising, organising and eliminating time wasters is guaranteed to bring out at least an hour a day. Weekday projects could be nurturing an herbal garden (bulk of the work is done in the weekend) learning a language, learning to dance, playing an instrument, or mentoring someone etc. The list is endless but choose something that you love to do and need an investment of 30 minutes or more Monday to Thursday. The weekday project will help you to do something other than work, and help you relax. It is also something you can look forward to after work.

?

4.???? Re-focus on your work: Major part of our day, Monday to Friday is taken up by our Jobs. Explore ways and means to make work less toxic and move towards liking what you do for a living. To start with explore how you can do your job better. Finding ways to cut time taken to produce outputs, bringing in Best Practices from the Industry or outside to save costs, delight the customer or exploring innovative practices etc. What I am suggesting is get involved in your work and workplace.

?

All the best as you kick start your 2023 journey!
