Back To The Water
In the early Noughties I took part in the London Triathlon several times. Swimming was my strongest discipline, cycling not too bad and a terrible runner. All in all a decent combined challenge that pushed me and was a great vehicle for fundraising. I even took part in the European Lake race across the Lake Balaton in Hungary which was about 6k across.
Two decades later and I felt it was time to get back in the water and give myself a new challenge. This November I'll be aiming to swim for Cancer Research in their 10k campaign.
Much has happened in the last twenty years. not least a big cycling crash which left me with quite a bit of metal in my shoulder (now removed) and a slightly restricted movement in that side which makes the swimming a bit more of challenge.
Over the summer I got quite a lot of practice in trying to get half a dozen 500m swims in per week and I've made a good start with a few swims over 1000m as I know, with travel etc I won't be able to get to a pool every day of the month.
So if Cancer Research is one of your chosen causes that you support please consider donating a bit extra this month on my Just Giving Page.
