Back-to-school transition for young adults with autism and learning differences

The transition from summer to school can be tough for any student. Add the challenges of living with a learning disability and dealing with the uncertainty of a global pandemic, it can be downright daunting.

At Transitions USA, we strive to make the changeover as simple and stress-free as possible for students, parents and caregivers.

For potential students, the first step is to call or email us to get to know each other and assess whether Transitions is the right program for you. After a preliminary conversation, we will arrange a more in-depth conversation with an advisor. At this point, you may ask all your burning questions. We then invite you to visit us, tour our campus and meet staff and current students. If the shoe fits, apply! Once you are accepted, we will begin the registration process.

For returning students, our staff is eager to welcome you back. They are ready to help ease students back into a daily routine, reunite them with friendly faces and address any of their concerns.

Transitions USA provides a wide-ranging curriculum, including courses on career exploration, social success, independent living, health, self-advocacy and legal rights. We also offer various innovative programs to enhance self-expression through our Imagine Academy for the Arts, including music, art, theater, photography, yoga, cooking and sculpture, all taught by renowned and experienced artists.

This year, we are pleased to announce a significant milestone for our program by opening a downtown Albany location.

With the addition of a new campus, Transitions students will have the flexibility to choose whether they would like to study within a rural area in Mayfield or an urban area in Albany.

Transitions students will be offered programs and opportunities for professional certifications in business, office and event management, practical nursing, paralegal studies, information technology, cosmetology and more as part of the expansion into the Capital District.
