BACK IN TIME...Cahors Cathedral: an architecture jewel!

The quercy is spiced with medieval architecture, both profane and religious. The architecture of The city of Cahors is no exception and a visit there is mandatory Saint-étienne de Cahors, its Cathedral, is one of the most majestic French religious monument with parts dating back to the 7th Century. It is listed in the Unesco World Heritage and a must-see stop in the legendary Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage.

Its main attraction is the relic of the Holy Cap of Christ, which was brought back from the Holy Land around 1113 and consecrated by the Pope in 1119.

Lovers of the Gothic style will enjoy the cloister, the apse and the west front of the Cathedral, which were redesigned during the Crusades. The west dome still has many beautiful hand painted vestiges created in the late 13th century.
