The 2024 edition of Light + Building closed last friday.
From March 3 to 8, 2024, 151,000 visitors from all over the world were able to discover 2,169 exhibitors who presented the latest developments in the field of building technologies but also trends in innovative lighting design.
Digitization and connectivity were at the forefront almost everywhere, dynamic lighting control, energy management, security but also a significant presence of solutions linked to electric mobility.
A trend which is confirmed: the rise of open solutions with a growing presence of players building their technical proposals around open technological standards such as those of KNX Association , DALI Alliance , BACnet International ,
On the one hand, historical players in the field such as 阿西布朗勃法瑞公司(ABB) , JUNG , Gira and others, have expanded their offering and are beginning to develop interoperability systems
From other manufacturers, like Zennio , EAE Technology , INTERRA , Moorgen Smart Home , which appeared more recently, also seem determined to develop their offerings in a market where demand is growing and where innovation is a real driving force.
Here too with an important reflection on openness, let us cite the example of the Z series screens from Zennio which can interact with most video entry systems on the market, notably those from DoorBird
In any case, it seems that KNX is on the rise, it is further expanding its connectivity with KNX IoT and the evolution of KNX RF, operated among others by ise Individuelle Software und Elektronik GmbH which offers a KNX RF Multi valve and the appropriate radio interfaces (alternative solution to those based on LoRaWAN, which can prove very relevant to achieve class B in a GTB #BACS system)
In the same universe we (re)saw Can'nX which also seeks to provide answers to connectivity questions with innovative proposals
Another notable innovation, which demonstrates that open source increasingly integrates production solutions Opta from FINDER S.p.A. which is built around an Arduino module fully programmable through the arduino IDE.
Coming back to connectivity, wireless communications solutions are evolving rapidly, technologies advanced by Bluetooth SIG are developing, particularly in light management with proposals which are beginning to reach a certain maturity in the management of interior lighting . As in the offer made by STEINEL

But also in outdoor lighting, particularly urban lighting where products communicating via Bluetooth could become a serious alternative to those communicating via LoRaWAN
Radio frequency connectivity seems in any case to be a booming field and the use cases are more and more numerous, as with what LumenRadio offers to communicate with field buses such as Modbus RTU and DALI
As we said a little above, we are observing a real movement towards the "opening" of products, interactions are today greatly facilitated by the provision of webAPI and/or SDKs that are easy to understand, we have could see it at Nicolaudie Architectural Control which has worked a lot in this direction, particularly with its DINA range.
or at Vivaldi s.r.l. which allows you to easily integrate solutions from its multimedia range via KNX, MQTT (broker included, if necessary), webAPI, etc.
Interesting things also in terms of the technology of light sources, with in particular an offer in terms of LED ribbons which increases the possibilities of creations, with increasingly flexible and solid ribbons, with the number of LEDs per meter as we no longer distinguishes light points (COB Led strip), or even with addressable LEDs (Pixel Led). Ingenious integration ideas like at Stealth Light S.r.l. or at Linea Light Group
Also on the source side, flexible cuttable LED "sheets", powered by 24V from Tronix Lighting B.V. which allow you to imagine many things in the design of lighting ambiance or signage.
And finally, a detour to URMET FRANCE which recently integrated into its fold the company Prassel publisher of the ViMS software suite, today mainly focused on security supervision, but which could perhaps, in the future, find its place in the areas of general supervision. (case to follow)
