Back to the Future... the next 3 years...

I was just asked the following question by colleague at the Australian Transformation and Turnaround association Bernie Kelly

"Fin...Are there particular shifts you would call out in the coming three years versus past three?"

My intended response would not fit in a comment window, so I have used this article in which to frame my response......

Here goes....

In the past three years, we've seen our lives transform in ways we could hardly have imagined, from working in our living rooms and having meetings online, to standing up for diversity, fairness and our planet, seeing the meteoric rise of Ai and much more, and yet, as we look ahead to the next three years, it seems we're just getting started.

In this upcoming 3 year period I see a future where being human is our greatest strength, and those that not only recognise this, but work on the further development of human capabilities will be the ones that thrive in this future.

This next 3 year period will see continued growth and augmentation of AI , Ai will permeate into most, if not all parts of the fabric of society. I believe it's not about the robots taking over, but about how technology can help us be better versions of ourselves.

Learning how to use AI will become as commonplace as using a smartphone is today, but instead of tech-savviness, the emphasis will be on how AI can make our lives easier, better and more fulfilling.

In the next three years, I believe we'll see personalisation take a leap forward to a world where ones needs and wants are anticipated and catered to, from shopping, to healthcare, and education.

As AI gets smarter, I believe we'll start asking tougher questions about its role in our lives, I believe Ai will allow us greater access and transparency to the data that was harvested on us, in the Web 2.0 world, and in a Web 3.0 world, we will see greater power in our own hands with intelligent assistants helping bargain deals on our own behalf with platforms, for rights to access, collect and curate data that does not ultimately serve us, but serve the valuations of the companies that do the harvesting.

Media and entertainment will be more in tune and dynamic than ever in its offerings, people will increasingly be vocal about content and stories that do not serve them, they will see this content as content that "robs" them of their time, and big studios will adapt of die. People will value their time more than ever and wake up to the spell of "free" social style content, content that leaves them wanting for a world that is next to impossible to achieve at the push of a button, leaving them depressed, trying to evaluate their life against a lens of a influencers or information overload that never ends. People will start to see the increased value that gained from hard work, and I believe people will start to search for meaning and connect meaning and drive to work for satisfaction.

I believe looking after our planet will become an even bigger part of doing business. We will move towards reusing and recycling more, so the products we love don't harm the world we live in, we will demand no planned product obsolescence and come to frown on companies that constantly every year make minimal product changes to keep people hooked to consumerism and drive share price.

I believe the constant thirst for more will slowly start to change, more information, more money, more things, will be seen as a trap and people will slowly start to evolve to less but better mindset, seeing the world through a less cluttered lens.

Finally I believe we will see more power being put back into our?own hands, thanks to technologies like blockchain. Whether it's voting, banking, or simply owning our data, we'll have more control over the things that matter to us.

It's clear to me that the future is all about being human, caring for ourselves, our planet and our fellow humans. Our creativity, empathy, connection, collaboration, and passion will be more important and valuable than ever, and our uniquely human spirit will guide us as we navigate this world, a world shaped and powered by technology.

Of course, these are just my thoughts, they may or may not be accurate.

I do however value any feedback on this article, or any thoughts you may have about this future.
