As the world continues to fight the rapid spread of coronavirus, confining many people to their homes and radically altering the way we move through, work and think about our cities, some are wondering which of these adjustments will endure beyond the end of the pandemic, and what life might look like on the other side.
But what if life never fully goes back to how it was pre-coronavirus? What if this epidemic is a turning point, and after it the world is never the same?
More importantly—or, at least, more optimistically—what if the world could come out of this crisis better than it was before?
As we grapple with the COVID-19 outbreak and are remotely working from home, it may seem as the pace of our lives slowed us down but in reality the world, as we know it is swiftly changing. At an individual level, we are getting more aware about the fraility mankind as a microscopic virus is holding the whole world at ransom. At the same time, we may make temporary or permanent changes in our our lives, routines and relationships.
Maybe this is a great time to pause and ponder, for which we had found little time in the past as we all have been rushing to achieve our goals and ambitions and just being part of this never- ending rat race. We may seek solace in simplicity and minimalism in our lifestyles. I hope we can become more humble, humane and less arrogant. Social distancing has, ironically, drawn some of us closer than ever before.
We may soon find that global battles, personal differences or discriminations based on religion, caste, creed, gender or colour are pointless. After all, the epidemic that we are grappling with does not discriminate.
The most important thing that we must realise is that our lives will never be the same again. Our political beliefs, our value systems and our cultures may see long lasting changes.
This is also a time as an organisation, business or a companies to relook at our value systems and our attitudes towards our customers and our employees. Firstly, we need to inclusively engage with our employees, Secondly, we need to deeply engage with our consumers and clients and offer the best of services to run their businesses in these tough times.
We need to find empathy for everyone and realise we all have our own coping mechanisms as invidiuals as well struggle with this crisis of an unprecedented nature. We need to draw on kindness and find gratitude in our everyday lives. We need to fight back and steer ourselves as individuals and organisations out of this mess.
Together, we can bounce back and find success again once we emerge out of the COVID-19 outbreak.
And am sure we will come out as True Winners this time around.
