Back To The Future with LeCoultre from 1960's
In 1558, Pierre LeCoultre and his family fled to Geneva Switzerland to escape religious persecution in France. The family formed a small community and Pierre LeCoultre's son built a church there marking the village of Le Sentier, amazingly where the company's Maunufacture is still based today.
Fast forward a few hundred years to 1853, Antoine LeCoultre (1803-1881) founded a small watchmaking workshop with his son Elie as they honed their skills, developing patents and inventions focused on creating some of the world's most precise and awarded timepieces. At a time when watchmaking skills were divided up amoung hundreds of small workshops, the LeCoultre family grew their in-house staff to 500 people by 1900 and developed the first partially mechanized production for complicated movements. Business was thriving and the factory began to also produce for other clients like French Jeweller, Cartier.
In 1936 Jacques-David LeCoultre, Antoine's grandson, collaborated with Paris watchmaker Edmond Jaeger, inventor of ultra-thin movements. Jaeger-LeCoultre formed in 1937 and has been remained an unstoppable force in the creation of fine timepieces.
This 1960's LeCoultre Futurematic embodies the spirit and passion of forward thinking people, like the LeCoultre family. We acquired this fine original timepiece from a private collector in Japan. It was expertly cleaned, fitted with a new crocodile strap, and restored perfectly by IVWC. The attention to detail and brilliant design elements exemplified this fine timepiece. The futuristic design moved the crown out of sight and to the back of the watch, the bumper automatic movement, power reserve and subdial gives it a sports car feel right down to the gauges.
We hope that you will enjoy viewing this wonderful timepiece. Professionally serviced and photographed by International Vintage Watch Company IVWC, Beverly Hills, California, USA.

6 年Jaeger Le Coultre is my favourite brand. So stylish and timeless (if you'll excuse the pun).
