Back to DataTools School in August

It's that time of year again when summer wraps up, kids go back to school and technology professionals flock to conferences. For this month's newsletter, I wanted to share some of the education I have produced and interesting tools I am enjoying.

New SQL for Salesforce Online Course Launched

Instead of teaching the same skills you can learn for free on YouTube, I wanted to focus on data literacy, analysis, and of course how to use SQL data query language to turn data into relatable information. From the point of view of a Salesforce admin or analyst wanting to add SQL to their skills arsenal, I took a practical real-world approach to learn basic SQL and Snowflake.

I lean into using LLMs right out of the gates embracing AI not as a replacement to learning SQL, but as a tool to debug and troubleshoot. With 65 exercises, it is densely packed!. Here is an article on Salesforce Ben with the announcement and a link to the SQL for Salesforce course.

DataTools Pro Lessons

With education in mind, I have overhauled "help" in DataTools Pro with our new formal learning path for data analysts. DataTools Pro lessons help explain techniques for communicating how data, metrics, and reporting/dashboard relationships in Salesforce work together. DataTools Pro is free for individual contributors and requires a Salesforce login to access.

What tools am I personally learning and enjoying this month: Coda

This month, my technical learning is dedicated to productivity. Coda is by far the best knowledge management tools I have used. I could spend my entire day tinkering and building in Coda! They seem to have figured some key components for building enterprise ready co-pilots, with Coda Brain. I saw this on display in June at Snowflake's annual conference and was compelled to prioritize DataTools Coda Bundle.

Today, I am managing all of my internal initiatives with Coda as shown below. With 13 projects going on, I can acknowledge the important things getting done and the fires burning not getting addressed!
