Back to business - and how working from a flexible workplace after the summer break is so much better
Returning to work after the summer break can be a real challenge.
The slow pace, the delayed waking up and going to bed, the days spent with family and friends soaking up the sun and taking a dip in the sea give way overnight to a hurried pace at work, with deadlines to meet, meetings to prepare for and the natural routine.
This process becomes even more difficult if going back to business means returning to a boring, rigid, unattractive conventional office without any concern for the work-life balance of employees.
And this is where flexible workplaces come into the picture as THE ideal solution!
An article published by Forbes reports that?
“Co-working spaces could be the best option for driving the collaboration and innovation companies desire and the flexibility and autonomy that employees crave. Surprisingly, co-working spaces might actually be your best employee-engagement strategy”.
Flexible workplaces are indeed a trend among companies (and, of course, for remote workers). But what exactly sets them apart from conventional offices - and why should you locate your company in one?
Forbes gives three arguments:
1. Diversity of knowledge
“Co-working spaces bring together professionals from diverse backgrounds , industries and companies. Employees gain exposure to fresh perspectives, innovative ideas and varied expertise by working alongside individuals outside their organization. This exposure enables them to broaden their knowledge base and stay updated on the latest industry trends and best practices without leaving their current company.”
2. An agile testing ground
“Co-working spaces also provide an ideal setting for employees to collaborate in a non-threatening environment. They can bounce ideas off co-working colleagues without fear of judgment, testing and refining their ideas in a supportive and diverse community. Unlike within the formal, company structure, colleagues in a co-working space do not directly impact an employee's performance , reputation or rating. It can feel safer to ask seemingly uncomfortable questions or share concerns with them.”
3. An increased commitment to the company
“When managers encourage widespread experimentation and collaboration within co-working environments, without prompting, employees bring external knowledge, fresh ideas and expanded networks back to their employers. By infusing employee work with insights gained from their experiences in co-working spaces, employees can contribute to their organization's growth, innovation and competitive advantage, ultimately benefiting both the employee and the company.”

Indeed, in recent years there has been a growing interest from large companies in flexible workplaces, as confirmed by the CEO of LACS, Martim de Botton, in an article in Marketeer:
“Organizations are progressively embracing this concept [co-working spaces] in order to attract young talent to their teams and create a more personalized company culture experience, while saving on costs such as rent and other consumables.”
LACS’ CEO believes that
“For large companies, attracting and retaining talent helps them scale their business faster and the trend shows that younger people are looking for a unique workspace that offers multiple services and meets new specific needs, such as being dog friendly or having hot desks (a flexible workplace where the employee does not have a fixed space). The overwhelming majority of people from the new generation demand not only a non-traditional work experience, but also offices that cater to an out-of-the-box style, a place that enhances their creativity and provides flexibility, while maintaining an atmosphere that boosts their growth. Networking opportunities are also a key factor in choosing a coworking space over a traditional office.”
Also, as Martim de Botton notes,
“Coworking spaces tend to adjust to the needs of each business, which allows them to focus 100% on what is most important. This agility reduces the time it takes for the company to move into a coworking space compared to traditional real estate options.”
Whether you run a company, are an employee or even a remote worker, it's time to give flexible workplaces a try!
And there's nothing better than the rentrée to give your company a new space and try out new ways of working.
