Back In Action

Back In Action

I am happy to announce that I am back in action with my wonderful colleagues at Sayari after 8 months. Today was a whirlwind and I am admittedly tired, but it felt amazing to be back in the game with everyone.

Apologies for the lack of updates since my last post, but the truth is that an auto stem cell transplant coupled with incredibly intense chemo and a 5-week stay in a hospital room was much more physically and mentally challenging than the prior few months of treatments. I didn't really feel like that was worth sharing while I was going through it.

Fast forward to now. I have been home with my saint of a wife Christina McKee, MS,AG-ACNP and little man since early March, and I was lucky enough to have had my parents and sisters come for visits from Philly to help my recovery and transition. Food may not taste the same still, but at least I am allowed to order takeout again. Stop me if you heard this before, but hospital food is terrible hahaha.

To be sure, my battle continues with regular clinic visits, bloodwork updates, and MRIs, but so far they are all (ever so slowly) trending in the right direction (or at least not reversing course). As the weather continues to improve in the Boston burbs, I have restarted my walks around the neighborhood to get some fresh air and get the legs moving.

And today, at long last, I spent my first day back with the most patient and supportive colleagues imaginable. It might be a long time until I can see them in person again, but it was incredible to virtually engage, hear their voices, and see their faces. Thank you for making it a rewarding Day 1.

Before I close, I wanted to thank Laura and Gabriel of Tall Girl Prints who kindly sent me this Sayari hat I am wearing so I can use it for meetings instead of the alternative shiny surface underneath it. I also want to send appreciation to all of you for the outpouring of support and messages. It really has helped me even if I wasn't able to respond.

It's so good to be back. Good night, and see you out there....
