- To grade the top 40 FCS schools for NIL based on alumni, fan base and ability to attract talent, we used the following equation: NIL grade = 0.4 * alumni score + 0.3 * fan base score + 0.3 * talent score
- - The alumni score is based on the number of living alumni reported by each school or estimated from other sources.
- - The fan base score is based on the average attendance of home games in the 2021 season reported by NCAA.com.
- - The talent score is based on the number of players drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft reported by NFL.com.
- - The scores are normalized to a scale of 0 to 100, where the highest score in each category gets 100 and the lowest gets 0.
- - The NIL grades are rounded to the nearest integer.
