Baby Boomer Kids
Alexander Maromaty
Principal Software Engineer/Architect at Wabtec Digital Electronics
You probably wonder what baby boomer kids did in school. Most of them grew up during the time when space exploration was at its peak. The Mercury program, Gemini program and most importantly the Apollo program where man landed on the moon.
A lot of kids back then were very interested in the space program and a lot of schools back then taught classes that were based on technology related to the space program.
I got my first ham radio license when I was 14 years old in order to learn more about radio and electronics. Back then, you had to know quite a bit about electronics (and also 20 words per minute of morse code) in order to get the amateur Extra class license, which I attained when I was 16 years old. My call sign is K9WK, and I am now almost 67 years old. I still talk to people on the radio and continue to learn things that I never knew.
Click on the link below to see what it was like being a kid back then in school - and maybe a little bit more.
