Good morning! As I sip my morning coffee, I am delighted to start my newsletter series Pitching o'er Coffee, a longtime wish that is finally coming true ???? Being an author is an arduous journey. But it is a gateway to explore ideas that can change lives and impact a massive audience, and I will explain why shortly. Writing is a profession hard to come by, as I am surrounded with engineers, startup founders, investors and such. I still like to be an author, spending time writing, reading, podcasting and talking to people over a cup of coffee because it is an opportunity to explore fun ideas and unusual insights. I will be sharing a few through the course of this newsletter, you will see.

Before that I would like you to peek through the window of my life as an author, what it feels like! It is important to know, because you will see the nature and scale of impact that it brings about, and be grateful for the power of the written word -

Just how my day goes..

I start my day reading a bunch of articles and fishing out insights, for instance -

YouTube is Dead and Something New is Coming

I am a YouTuber as well (visit my channel here), I care about it, it is impacting my child and the world as I know it, and I need to be in the know -

YouTube is the Next MySpace

MySpace died for the same two reasons that haunt YouTube:

1. Hollywood/movie business
2. Entropy

So what can possible replace YouTube?

1. Rumble?

Rumble is a censorship-free video hosting platform where users can upload their videos or create their channels, like YouTube

2. Decentralized YouTube? Perhaps...

Dailymotion, Vimeo, and FaceBook Watch — not really, all failures...

Making sense of this -

Insight -

YouTube as a channel needs to constantly reinvent itself, become algorithm-agnostic and allow for YouTubers to take time off; to reinvent or explore their human side and creativity. YouTube needs novel ways of human-in-the-loop content evaluation and promotion!

After reading about YouTube,

I obsess about Climate Tech and its potential as I worry about the kind of future we are loaning our kids. Floods in Bengaluru, unusually hot winters and fall weather, it bothers me. Also, I am working as a consultant with Climate tech investors and startups

Climate Tech a huge investment opportunity in startup and philanthropy both, as it has become a frontier for the next set of challenges humanity will be facing. Thanks to thought leaders in this space Nitin Vaish Axios

Insight -

All businesses are going to be investing in this. Every company will become a climate-conscious company in the long run.

Every company will be a sustainability-conscious company as the ESG guidelines tighten up. Healthcare giants like Kaiser have already started acting on this.

How my journey in podcasting and writing began..

I started to realize that many amazing, enterprising and massively impactful beginnings happen over a cup of coffee and fun and relaxed conversations, as it did for me with BV Jagadeesh .

I have interacted with some of the most amazing industry leaders and change makers as I work alongside him and it has culminated as one of my current ventures.

I am co-authoring my third book StartUp To Win with BV along side another amazing co-author, industry/product leader and investor Ashish Mehra, PhD .

This is how my journey goes, and I haven't looked back, the pandemic only seemed to fuel this journey, upward and onward. After my first conversation with BV, many such conversations happened with other startup and venture leaders, change makers like him...and I decided to brand it as Pitch Cafe - place where talent meets coffee; in keeping with the #SiliconValley 星巴克 culture where startup ideas are born over a rejuvenating and relaxing drink.

So, that's how I started my podcast Pitch Cafe

An author means being courageous and exploring new things constantly..

It can become lonely at times. I read a lot and try out new things all the time. I wish to share these exciting moments, lessons learned, and unusual awakenings and insights, be it in business or life itself. I have built a lifelong rapport with some amazing thought leaders this way. I thought I should start a newsletter to funnel these insights.

Once I try out new things, I want to share those experiences, exciting rides and lessons learned..

I intend to reach more people, as I am seeing what the power of unusual ideas can do, especially in lifting spirits, bringing people out of blind spots, be it a startup pivot or a positive attitude, or as simple as bringing a direction to life (a snippet from my past workshop)
