No one will care about your story until they can see how it relates to them. In telling your story make sure to answer WIIFM: What’s In It For Me? Link your wins to their wins; your struggles and overcoming to their own process. Then, you would have told your story AND provided value and insight to your audience. You can do both!

Don't talk too much about "I" or "me," and instead, discuss more about the things that made you successful. Of course, you can talk about what you did in your career, but don't overglorify yourself. Touch on topics such as how the environment and the people around you affected your decisions. Give pieces of advice to other writers who want to follow in your footsteps. Always remember to be proud but stay humble.

Instead of jumping straight to "I did this, and it was amazing," - take your audience along the ride. People love hearing about the struggles and learning curves along the way. Did you stay up late working on a draft that didn’t seem to click? Did you face rejection before that big break? By focusing on the journey, readers relate to your story. because we’ve all faced hurdles in our own lives. When you mention others who contributed to your success — you come across as grateful rather than self-centered. Give them credit for being part of your journey. Instead of just telling people what you did, frame your success as a way to help them. Share lessons you learned or tips they can apply to their own lives.

What did that outcome mean for that company or individual? What were the wins, and how could these lessons benefit someone else? Speak to someone specific in each piece of content you create. Share something valuable. Key takeaways to pass along. This way, you can humbly brag on your expertise without coming across as too self promotional.
