Azure: Creating a vnet Peering

Virtual network (vnet) peering enable communication between two different vnets. In this demo, I want to peer my vnet named "baSingSaVNET" to vnet named "earthKingdomVNET."

To peer vnets, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Azure portal at https://portal.azure.com/ and log in with your Azure account.
  2. In the Search bar, search for "virtual network" and select the result. A prerequisites is that there are two vnets already available for peering. If not, create them.
  3. Select the desired vnet for peering with another vnet (in this demo, it will be baSingSaVNET).
  4. Go to Peerings > Add
  5. In the "This virtual network" section, give it a name. I like to make my name a description instead e.g., baSingSa2earthKingdom.
  6. For this demo, we will stick with the default settings.
  7. In the "Remote virtual network" section, give it a name. Again, I like to my mine a description e.g., earthKingdom2baSingSa.
  8. Then select the subscription these vnets belong to and select the remote vnet.
  9. Then click Add and wait for the status to say "connected."
