Ayodhya Ram Temple: History of Ram Janmabhoomi

As we all know the inauguration of Ram Mandir will take place on 22 January under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi. This will be a proud moment for all the Sanatanis and the Lord Ram Bhakt all over the universe.

Today I will tell you how and why it is a proud moment for every Sanatani, basically the struggle of Hindus for Ram Janambhoomi since the 16th Century.

Let’s get started. Jai Shree Ram ??

Friends, As we all know the Ram Mandir was demolished by Babar and built the Mosque but no one discussed or told who built the Ram Temple first.

Shri Kush(kusha), Lord Ram’s son has built this temple in Ayodhya. At that time, there was more than 3000 temples was there.

Now let’s begin,

  1. April 1526 (The First Battle of Panipat): A war between Sultanate Ibrahim Khan Lodi and Mughal Empire’s Muhammad Babur in North India. It also marked the beginning of the Mughal Empire.
  2. 1528: Babur with his empire reached Ayodhya, Mughal commander, Mir Baqi demolished the Ram Temple and built a mosque, known as the Babri Masjid.

190 Years Later.

The times when Mughal Empire was so powerful.

3. 1717: Jaipur King Raja Jai Singh II tried to get the land near Masjid because he knew the importance of that land, but things didn’t work as he expected even though he had a good relationship with the Mughal Empire, So he finally built a Chabootra(Stage) for Hindus.

4. 1813: The first time Hindus raised their voice that the Mughal Empire had demolished our temple and built a mosque. We can see this claimed right now in many books like British Article & Ayodhya Revisited by Author Kishor Kunal.

5. 1838: Montgomery Martin, A British Surveyor first referred to the mosque in a book which recorded that the pillars of the mosque had non-Muslim pictures, which could have been taken from the temple.

6. 1853: The first recorded incident related to the dispute occurred when a group of Hindus placed Hindu idols inside the Babri Masjid, claiming it was the birthplace of Lord Rama. This sparked tensions between the communities, enough to accelerate the legal battles.

7. 1855: The British colonial administration erected a fence on the site to separate the inner and outer courtyards. Muslims were given access to the inner courtyard, while Hindus were allowed to worship in the outer courtyard.

8. 1885: The judiciary was involved for the first time as Mahant Raghubir Das filed a plea in Faizabad district court seeking permission to build a canopy of Ram Chabootra on the site of Ram Janmabhoomi, The Court, however, Rejected his plea.

9. March 1934: The dispute comes to life again with the outbreaks of rioting between Hindus and Muslims which results in damage to the mosque and the dome, which was subsequently rebuilt by the government.

10. August 1947: A ray of hope. we got independence from the British government, but nothing happened. Ram Mandir was also not even on the agenda of Congress’s Manifesto.

11. 1949: On the night of December 22, idols of Lord Rama appeared inside the Babri Masjid. This led to communal tensions, and both Hindus and Muslims claimed ownership of the site. The government declared the site disputed and locked the gates of the mosque.

12. 1950s-1980s: Various Hindu and Muslim organizations filed legal cases claiming their rights over the site. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) emerged as a prominent Hindu organization advocating for the construction of a Ram temple at the site while the Sunni Waqf Board was advocating for the presence of a Babri Masjid.

13. 1989: A major Hindu nationalist political party in India, adopted the construction of the Ram Mandir as one of its key political agendas. This further politicized the issue and garnered widespread attention.

14. April 1980: The Foundation of Bharatiya Janata Party with the ideology of Hindutva & decided to conduct a Rath Yatra from Sitamadi to Ayodhya.

15. 1986: The dispute gained national attention when the district court ordered the opening of the gates of the Babri Masjid to allow Hindu worship in the outer courtyard. This decision was later upheld by the Allahabad High Court.

16. 1990: After the BJP was in power, leader L.K. Advani embarked on the “Rath Yatra,” a religious procession travelling across India to garner support for the construction of the Ram Mandir. The yatra sparked communal tensions and led to violent clashes between Hindus and Muslims in several regions.

17. December 6, 1992: The Hindu activists demolished the Babri Masjid, leading to widespread communal violence across India. This event resulted in deep divisions and strained relations between Hindus and Muslims.

18. 2002: The Godhra train burning incident in Gujarat led to communal riots in the state, resulting in the deaths of many people from both communities.

19. 2003: Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) report: the Archaeological Survey of India conducted excavations at the disputed site. The ASI report concluded that there was evidence of a large Hindu structure beneath the Babri Masjid, indicating the presence of a pre-existing temple. The findings of the report were used as evidence in legal proceedings.

20. 2010: The Allahabad High Court delivered its verdict on the disputed site, dividing the land into three parts: one-third to the Sunni Waqf Board, one-third to the Nirmohi Akhara (a Hindu sect), and one-third to the Hindu deity Ram Lalla Virajman.

21. 2019: The Supreme Court of India heard the appeals against the Allahabad High Court’s verdict and delivered its judgment. It ruled in favour of the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site, while also directing the government to provide an alternate land of five acres to the Sunni Waqf Board for the construction of a mosque.

22. 5 August 2020: The Golden Chapter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for a grand temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.

Friends, In 1528, After the demolition of the Ram Temple today almost 500 years later there is again we built a Ram Temple that going to happen Pran Pratishtha on 22 January by our Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. No one can express the feeling or happiness of this victory in a few words.

The Moral of this long struggle is:

No matter how bad the circumstances are in life, truth will always prevail over evil.

The battle will continue for Gyanvapi and Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Muthra.
