On the 8th of August, 2021, I lost my father. He passed away while getting ready to go to work. Just like he always wanted, going away quietly while still working and without having to struggle with any age-related illness. He was a passionate geologist who worked for over 60 years in the Ministry of Energy.

?My dad always wanted that his only worry to be his work and his family’s happiness.

He inspired us all to love what we do and do it in the best possible manner .. he always used to quote the hadeeth by profit Mohammed P.B.U.H :

“God loves someone who when works, he performs it in a perfect manner.”

Those were not just words he said to raise us on such principle; we saw it resonate in every aspect of his life .. in his work, in the way he treated everyone, in fixing things around the house, and even in picking up fruits from the supermarket. He had to do it all by himself; he had to do it in a perfect manner. Living this way gave him peace of mind.

My father taught me that work has no age limit. Even in his 80s, despite constantly pushing him to take a break and have some time for himself, he always preferred to work. Not only because he filled a critical role with profound commitments, but for him, work was his passion, his pride, his drive, and his source of satisfaction.

Perhaps the below picture of him - Thankfully shared by the Ministry of Energy - says it all…

My dad - in his 80s - and three other colleagues, pulling the tag line to land an international boundary monument in place; This probably weighs tons!

All I can say now is that I love you, and I feel blessed and proud to have lived to be your son. May your soul rest in peace, dad.

You may be gone from this world, but your work and teachings did not.

…Now off to work
