Axpo Engineering Power Conference - nearly missed the forth edition ;-)

Implementing trading regulations in an efficient and effective way
What a shock! I missed the registration for this year’s #EngineeringPowerConference, and I only realized it when I was standing right at the gate. The event was fully booked, with both the seats and the waiting list overflowing! Being turned away at the door was frustrating, but luckily, there was a silver lining:
And yes, 60 minutes later, I got a call from Brigitte Wartmann in the CEO’s office (a huge, huge thank you!) — I was allowed to join the conference in person. Since space in the main auditorium was limited, the talks were also streamed to the foyer and other rooms. I was getting closer...
Since the auditorium gates were closed during presentations, I watched the next speech from the foyer. Christoph Brand was there too, watching the screen, though we were interrupted by some side chats. Want to meet the CEO? Come to the Engineering Power Conference!
So, why is the Axpo Engineering Power Conference such a big deal for me?
Aside from the chance to meet a lot of great colleagues and do some networking, for me, as an engineer by training, the event just feels like home. Working in the world of financial engineering now, it’s refreshing for my brain to hear talks on technical topics related to power production and distribution.
My personal highlight this year was Esmee Huijten ’s talk on how improved weather forecasting can prevent hydro storage overflow during extreme rainfall events—just an amazing contribution. It was impressive not only in terms of the knowledge shared but also in the way she made complex topics easy to understand using simple graphics. Brilliant!

Thanks to that presentation, I feel much better prepared for regulator questions on hydro optimization. ??
All the presentations were engaging and still had that solid engineering vibe. There weren’t many formulas on display, but you could tell that the Axpo engineers aren’t shy about them.
My conclusion:
#EngineeringPowerConference #Axpo #Innovation #SustainableEnergy #EnergyEngineering #MakeTomorrowHappen
#EngineeringPowerConference #Axpo #Innovation #SustainableEnergy #EnergyEngineering, as well as optional: #maketomorrowhappen
