Awwwards Amsterdam. Day 1 Notes
First, event is great, energetic, with nice vibe and people around. Cool new ideas, people and works to know. Everything is in place. Looking forward for tomorrow.
Andy Budd. Great great speech about Design Leadership. Full list of responsibilities and how to do things right. Yet, as he told, the most complex thing is to be able to execute it. Who knew? More on Andy's speech in separate post.
Jenny Johannesson. Nice, funny and beautiful about design process and daily routine of freelancer.
Margot Gabel. Sooo beautiful and thoughtful.
On accessibility. Design with accessibility needs covered benefits everyone, brings more users to a business, makes design better, isn’t a blocker for creativity and since 2019 saves you from lawsuits.
Mustafa Kurtuldu. About solving business problems with design, sometimes in in-obvious ways. Speed matters. But focus on perceived speed.
Marcus Brown. The best surprise so far as I didn’t know Marcus was going to be on awwwards conf. Really admired his work about Amsterdam canals from 2019. https://canals-amsterdam.nl. About it and some other projects, his process and use of typography and colours is projects. Weirdish NZ accent as a bonus.
Vitaly Friedman. Charming indeed
Kika Douglas. Kick-ass mind-blowing Achtung! project for VW. Result of diverse, multi-disciplinnary team collaboration https://achtung.nl/Volkswagen-Snelwegsprookjes
Adriano Esteves. Great great speech about process, wisdom, cool works and a great story. Ultimate recipe to do a great job: you have to be obsessed. Simple. You have to partner with business, find a balance between client desires and what you want to do, choose the right battles, which you can challenge at the moment.
Peter Smart. About biological background of creativity and stress. It nicely corresponded to what Andy Budd told about building safe environment.
