AWS Overview & What Certifications are in Demand

What is AWS & What does AWS stand for?

AWS (Amazon Web Services) was launched in 2002 and AWS cloud was launched in 2006, an idea that Amazon executives did not expect to take off and become the superpower it has. Offering more than 200 fully featured services globally AWS offers scalable options for companies that hail as startups to government agencies and large enterprises. This is possible because it uses IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and packaged SaaS (Software as a Service). AWS was one of the first to be offered on a pay-as-you-go basis and was built by Amazon to handle its services and operations, some of those services include, Data Management, Migration, Analytics, Storage Database, and Computing to name a few.

What are AWS Certifications??

AWS offers 11 certifications like AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and more listed by Cloud Academy here, where they are broken up into foundational, associate, professional and specialty categories. Another similar source for certification information can be found through this link from a piece by Matthias Andersson via A Cloud Guru. They will be able to find pre-requisites, difficulty level, average duration and more per certification. Depending on your job, role requirements and career path you can choose certifications that will be able to showcase that you have mastered a set of skills and knowledge in that area. The graphic provided below is aimed to brief you on the road to acquiring different types of certifications.

These exams typically take about 90 minutes or above, have 65 or more questions and are graded according to their level and scoring system. And of course, stay up to date you would be required to get your recertification.?

Global Knowledge put together a list for the highest paying certifications, with AWS coming in at number three with the AWS Certified Solutions Architect- Associate, with a $159,033 as the salary.Certifications like the aforementioned one, are tools and ares not meant to replace experience? but do add to your knowledge and skills.
