AWS tees up the Generative AI Course Creator experience at TOUR Championship

As the top 30 players on the PGA TOUR this season take to the green for the 2024 TOUR Championship from August 28-September 1 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, GA, fans will have the opportunity to design their dream golf course via a cutting-edge, generative AI-enabled activation located in the “SO Cool Zone” near the Fan Shop. Dubbed the AWS Generative AI Course Creator, the interactive experience leverages Amazon Web Services (AWS) technology, and is accessible as a web-based experience .
Whether fans prefer golfing in sunny, cloudy, rainy or even snowy weather, they will be prompted to select a biome (Grassland, Forest, Tropical, Mountain, Desert) and enter a creative keyword to inspire their golf course name in a 3D environment. Based on these prompts, the generator will create a unique virtual golf course poster customized to the user’s choices. With the power of the AWS cloud, the bespoke AI-generated golf course is rendered in a few seconds. The result is a shareable image and printed poster of their bespoke design. ???

?To enable these one-of-a-kind, artistic golf course visualizations, the AWS Generative AI Course Creator was built on Amazon Bedrock , a fully managed service that streamlines access to foundational models. In the experience, Bedrock accesses Anthropic’s Claude 3 , a large language model (LLM) trained to produce thoughtful dialogue, to generate a personalized course name based on the user’s inputs. The Stable Diffusion XL text-to-image model, hosted on managed AI and machine learning (ML) service Amazon SageMaker , then generates the 3D scenes.
?As the PGA TOUR’s Official Cloud Provider, AWS enables them to innovate and drive technology initiatives across their organization. The PGA TOUR captures content from 36 on-course sensors (missile racking radars) and 120 cameras of the 32,000 shots hit across 200 hundred acres of golf course each day of a PGA TOUR event. They are then using AWS tools and services to continually innovate and identify new ways to leverage every piece of information they have gathered from the golf course to serve their fans in new and meaningful ways. Most recently, the PGA TOUR’s focus is on finding ways to transform the fan experience and better serve their partners, players and networks using generative AI . To do this, the PGA TOUR is working closely with AWS to experiment and ultimately build generative AI platforms to serve golf fans, PGA TOUR players, and the overall business of the PGA TOUR.
