AWS re:invent 2023 - Learnings

I have this good habit of following re:invent from AWS virtually (may be one day it would be in person!) for the last 5 years with enthusiasm, anticipation and excitement.

It helps me to learn, explore and understand how cloud is shaping industries, how AWS continues to put customer at the center of everything, how some real problems can be solved using cloud services and how certain trends are being envisioned right infront of our eyes. In this article, I would like to cover how I felt about this 2023 event.

Keynotes and Big announcements from Swami, Werner and Adam stood out for me inline with what world is going through like "economic changes, cost optimizations, competitive landscape, stricter budgets and GenAI knocking the door to show productivity improvements for each professional and for business to unlock their true potential."

Below are my personal opinions

• This year, I felt each announcement (big or small) has a "specific purpose" and "specific outcome" instead of sometimes, ya we are bringing it for you to try.
• "Diversity & Inclusion" in all key notes stood out for me. World indeed needs all diverse thoughts and actions for technology to move forward at this critical phase.
• For some services, there is a "clear change in direction" but felt it was needed for adoption. ZeroETL is one example that is easy to relate.
• AWS continuous to "think holistically" for every customer from Infra to Cost, Service to Ease of use and Problems to Success. Lots to learn from them for everyone as individual or enterprise.
• In GenAI space, AWS ensured you have help to take "your applications to production" and give it to end-users. Also have options handy to switch, iterate and swift easily.
• Simple laws for building "cost-aware, sustainable, and modern architectures" are readily available. Don't move away from them saying time to market is your objective.
