AWS Goodies - May 6, 2024

Whew -- what a great weekend. Justin Timberlake in concert on Friday, Mexican dinner on Saturday, and a birthday celebration for our oldest grandchild on Sunday. Now I am back at my keyboard with the latest and greatest AWS Goodies for you:

Faster AWS KMS Key Rotation - In a new blog post, Jeremy Stieglitz talks about The curious case of faster AWS KMS symmetric key rotation. He covers the history of keys and cryptography in depth, and provides a lot of detail about the protections provided by AWS KMS. After this introduction, he talks about some new options for rotating keys, including configurable rotation periods, on-demand rotation, and improved visibility. There's also a new price cap for automated rotations (refer to AWS Key Management Service Pricing and the What's New for more info).

Streaming Chatbot Tutorial - This post on /r/aws shows you how to build and deploy a streaming chatbot on AWS Lambda in just three steps, with additional detail in a separate post, Master Streaming Chatbot Development with AWS Lambda in 3 Simple Steps.

TLS Inspection for Encrypted Egress Traffic - My colleague Brandon Carroll did a deep dive into TLS inspection configuration for encrypted egress traffic and AWS Network Firewall. In this new post he shows you how to implement TLS inspection with AWS Network Firewall, and shows you how to integrate this helpful new feature into your overall network security strategy.
