AWS Goodies - August 21, 2024
I am back from a week in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where my wife and I celebrated (a week or two early) our 42nd wedding anniversary:
We had a wonderful time and now I am back at the keyboard with a passel of fresh AWS goodies to share with you.
AWS Console Mobile App - Per the What's New, the AWS Console Mobile App can now access 16 additional AWS services including AWS Systems Manager, AWS Developer Tools, and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service. The app lets your view and manage a select set of services so that you can stay informed and remain connected to your AWS resources while you are on-the-go.
Amazon Q Business - A new post from Vishal Karlupia and Srinivas G. on the AWS Machine Learning Blog shows you how to Unlock the power of structured data for enterprises using natural language with Amazon Q Business. As they say:
In this post, we discuss an architecture to query structured data using Amazon Q Business, and build out an application to query cost and usage data in Amazon Athena with Amazon Q Business. Amazon Q Business can create SQL queries to your data sources when provided with the database schema, additional metadata describing the columns and tables, and prompting instructions.
Thanks to Elizabeth Fuentes Leone for finding and sharing this.

S3 Enhanced HTTP 403 - Amazon S3 now includes additional content in HTTP 403 (Access Denied) errors for requests made to resources in the same account as the requester. Per the What's New:
This new context includes the type of policy that denied access, the reason for denial, and information on the AWS IAM user or role that requested access to the resource. This context helps you to troubleshoot access issues, identify the root cause of access denied errors, and fix incorrect access controls by updating the relevant policies.
I found this on the What's New on AWS (Unofficial) feed.
S3 Conditional Writes - You can now issue conditional writes that check for the existence of an object before creating it. According to the What's New, you need to add the HTTP if-none-match conditional header to your PutObject and CompleteMultipartUpload API requests.
And that's all for today!
