AWS enables secure remote connectivity for industrial operations during COVID-19 crisis

During the COVID-19 crisis, governments and companies are having to make difficult choices, balancing people's safety with economic livelihood. Remote services and digital solutions can make a major contribution to keep people safe, production running, and critical supply chains and economic livelihood preserved.

As businesses are being directed to limit site work, the need remains to ensure that assets continue to operate across buildings, utilities, energy, process, hybrid and maritime industries, safeguarding food processing, power generation, water management, building management, data centers and the transportation of goods.

To ensure continuous operations, customers can access a suite of AWS IoT solutions, including remote condition monitoring of critical assets; augmented reality maintenance support; predictive asset maintenance, predictive product quality; and self-diagnoses using advanced analytics that mitigate risk to assets, processes and security.

Many of these critical assets in industry are deployed behind restricted firewalls at remote sites and you need a way to gain access for troubleshooting, configuration updates, and other operational tasks. Secure tunneling helps customers establish bidirectional communication to remote devices over a secure connection that is managed by AWS IoT. Secure tunneling does not require updates to your existing inbound firewall rule, so you can keep the same security level provided by firewall rules at a remote site. So you can use a secure tunnel to open and quickly start a troubleshooting session with an asset from anywhere. This enables industrial customers to run their operations safely, to keep the lights on, keep people safe & connected and help us all to weather this storm of COVID-19.
